From the President

Federation Promotion

Prior to the passing of the gavel, I put together a committee called Attract, Connect, Transform ("ACT").  One of the components of this initiative, was to identify the best channels of communication to distinguish the FDCC as the most preeminent defense organization in the United States and internationally.  Understanding the value and importance of a robust social media presence, the ACT committee launched a new FDCC LinkedIn page to serve as a tool to promote the organization while at the same time, providing value to members.

LinkedIn is one of the most powerful social networking tools available for attorneys, law firms, and corporations.  It's exclusively for professionals looking to network and showcase their expertise and experience.  The marketing firm we retained said there was no better way to spread the word about the Federation.

Colleagues and potential clients are turning to LinkedIn as a source of information on attorneys, law firms, and corporations making LinkedIn a crucial place to illustrate the most flattering professional profile possible.  Are you and your firm taking advantage of this powerful opportunity? If not, the FDCC is here to help. If you or your firm is currently utilizing LinkedIn, are you reaching your goals?

There are many different goals that attorneys, firms, and corporations can achieve via LinkedIn. It’s important to understand what LinkedIn can do and how you plan to make the most of its capabilities.  For some, it’s a way to showcase their experience and expertise. For others, it can be used to connect with potential referral sources, whether lawyers or other professionals, or even clients. Others use LinkedIn as a source of information to support their practice, including news and legal updates relevant to their area of practice.  What makes sense for you and your firm?

To answer this question, the FDCC has put together a webinar you won’t want to miss.  Learn how the FDCC is using LinkedIn to promote the FDCC and provide value to members.  Determine if you are using LinkedIn’s capabilities to its fullest potential, develop your own social media plan, and find out how you can track your progress to reach your goals.  On November 28th at 1:00 P.M. EST, Frank Ramos and Marisa Trasatti will present “LinkedIn – The FDCC, Your Firm, and You.”

If you haven’t already, check out the FDCC’s new LinkedIn page and be sure to follow the page to stay up to date with all FDCC happenings.  New content will be posted on a daily basis and will include important information on upcoming events, promotional videos, section updates, substantive legal articles, legal news, featured members, new members, member triumphs, and more.  We want to spread the word about Federation Exceptionalism.

Our goal is for every FDCC member to follow the page.  I would encourage all of you to add your membership with the FDCC to your profile page.  Showcasing your membership with the FDCC, proves you are an integral force within your community and an involved member within your industry. Adding your membership to your profile is simple.  Here are step-by-step instructions.

1.     Login to your LinkedIn Account and open your profile;

2.     If you have the Organizations section already added to your profile, simply scroll to it and click the pencil (edit) icon to enter into edit mode.

OR

If you don’t have the Organizations section added to your profile yet, add it by scrolling below the Contact Information section at the top part of your profile.  If you don’t see “Organizations” as an option, select “View More.”

3.     In the Organization field, type the name of the organization.

4.     In the Position(s) Held field, type the position you held.

5.     Fill in the remaining fields and click the “save” button

I am looking forward to sharing with you all of the exciting new initiatives the FDCC is offering members and am hopeful that through these initiatives the FDCC can provide all members with benefits that will be of value to you and your practice and allow every member an opportunity to get more involved in the organization.

Scott Kreamer

President

We are all looking forward to Thanksgiving, which is right around the corner. Mark your calendars for the day you return to work, Monday November 27, to register for the Winter Meeting at the Omni on Amelia Island. Registration opens that day, and an email blast containing the registration link will be sent out that day. You will also receive a hard copy of the registration brochure in the mail following the opening of online registration.

A few quick points and reminders:

Corporate and Industry Members: your registration is FREE for this conference. We are expecting a lot of Corporate and Industry Members to take advantage of this opportunity, especially since the meeting is short and the venue is readily accessible.

If you have someone in mind, please notify me or Regina to make sure we have a spot for them.  We already have spots taken so act quick!

Cuba: this trip is ON. We are still planning to go to Cuba right after the Amelia meeting. Trip details and registration information will be included in the Amelia Island registration brochure. Space is limited so - again - register early.
